Canvas is designed for creating and editing longer artifacts such as documents, apps, slides or code. Available transformation and export options can vary by account and surface.
1. Start Canvas with a deliverable
Choose Canvas and describe the exact artifact: proposal, article, app prototype, slide outline or code. Give audience, constraints and acceptance criteria.
2. Create structure before polish
Ask for headings, sections, components or screens first. Fix missing logic and ordering before spending time on sentence-level style.
3. Edit one region at a time
Select or reference the section you want changed and state what must remain untouched. Controlled edits reduce regressions across a long artifact.
4. Preview the actual output
For code or interactive work, use the available preview and test the intended user path. For documents, read transitions, tables and headings as a whole.
5. Export only after a final pass
Check factual claims, links, placeholders and formatting. Then use the appropriate share/export path rather than treating the first generated artifact as finished.
Create this in Canvas as a structured deliverable. First build the outline/components only. After I approve the structure, we will revise one section at a time. Preserve approved sections unless I explicitly ask to change them.
Generating the entire artifact repeatedly; mixing structural and cosmetic changes in one request; never opening the preview; exporting with placeholder facts or links still present.
Finish check
The Canvas artifact has a stable structure, tested critical path or readable document flow, and no unresolved placeholders before export.
