Midjourney changes models, settings and parameters over time. Use the current Create interface and official docs for version-specific controls.
1. Open the Create page
Use the Imagine bar on Midjourney’s Create page to enter the visual prompt.
2. Describe what must be visible
Cover subject, environment, medium/style, lighting, color, mood and composition. Put critical content before optional decoration.
3. Set the aspect ratio for the real destination
Choose portrait, landscape or another ratio based on where the image will actually be used.
4. Generate and compare the set
Do not pick only by “prettiest.” Compare subject accuracy, composition, artifacts, text errors and whether the image leaves usable space.
5. Refine the selected direction
Reuse the winning prompt/image, change one control at a time and keep notes on which wording or settings improved consistency.

Writing only a string of style adjectives; ignoring aspect ratio until the end; changing prompt and settings simultaneously; judging tiny thumbnails instead of opening the full result.
